Hopeless-hagen

December 21, 2009 § 5 Comments

Googling- hagen means noble boy. Well the nobel boys(and girls) of the world, sat down to discuss and (try)  agree upon some common measures. Well it didn’t take a genius to predict the inevitable-nothing positive has come out of it.

Sure, globalization means that we the people of the world, with our wonderful rights to speech, voiced our despair; But no one heard us. Maybe, as the Delhi CM said, when asked about the Commonwealth games, let us pray.

The Accord by the way is this(click on the link to read it). And the flaws just present themselves to you, unless of course,  you don’t happen to understand English. This clearly shows that no one gives a damn. I had mentioned in the podcast, that a solution is going to be tough to arrive at and also discussed some of the problems- well pity our leaders, seem to crying over spilt milk and more bothered about other things- this shows we still cannot see ourselves as humans first.

I am not going to write a huge post, about this, mainly because those who read my blog are clever enough to understand things anyway, but I agree to most of what he has to say.

Recently, I went for a debate, where the topic was ” Climate change a conspiracy against the developing world” and well it seems true now. I had talked about in my podcast- pledging money etc, shows us that the “West” is still after control over the others.

The US portrays itself as a champion of modern “free” values, but it is the main culprit(or so it seems). If you are so wise, why don’t you just set some examples? We have enough hypocrites here and we know how you people work, so if you give a damn about “global warming”(  when your cities are covered in two feet of ice), then you better start doing some work.

Transfer of technology and establishing a fund sounds great, but where is the technology? And USD 100 billion? You mean, that the developing world needs only that much to change, when your companies need more to bail themselves out?

Shifting the burden on the developing world is fine, but the main aim here is to try to provide a square meal a day to our entire population, providing gainful employment(how about cleaning the environment?) etc. If you indeed have the technology, why aren’t you already using it?

I have already mentioned(in my podcast) that this is not about saving Earth, but this is about saving humanity. But the treats are apparently not visible to many. Whether the scientific results are true or not is a question, this is a critical issue. Yesterday we fought over our resources, today we fight over who religion and sects , tomorrow we will be fighting over our waste.

And rationing the amount of energy a person can use is absurdity. Unfortunately we(who have the technology and the rest) use (and emit) more than those who are living in refugee camps and fighting for survival. Maybe as a specie, we will survive through this. But it is not about that, we are talking about living-as “the most intelligent race”, we deserve better(?). Unfortunately, there seems to be a lack of humanism among our leaders.

The way forward- come up with “green technology” for the primary industries first- no drying(and polluted) rivers is not going to help reduce the amount of water in the ocean. If nuclear is the way forward, then well better start using to produce energy, before Uncle Sam decides he can’t answer questions and throws one at us, to shut us up and as for the nuclear waste, well I am sure the deserts make a very good dumping yard(hope you get the sarcasm).

Maybe manufacturing goods which last long( just try your international brands here, to make a washing machine work for more than a year, you need waste about  Rs.5000, make calls, threaten to sue etc) and follow some basic norms. Improving public  transportation facilities will help( seeing people hanging from foot boards isn’t let’s say isn’t going to make me take a bus!) and also reducing traffic jams will help. Planting more trees in urban areas, will help lower the temperature(caused due to concrete and metal) and reduce the need for ACs.

I did feel that dividing industries among countries(to avoid duplication of resources), might be a solution, but then it has many flaws. One thing is for sure- time to see ourselves as humans first and the rest.

Well to end this post ,let me quote  Shelley

Look on my works, ye mighty, and despair!

rains, NEWS etc

November 9, 2009 § 20 Comments

Its been raining Chennai for the past few days. So no classes blah blah. Of course none of the national NEWS channels would have told you that many have died and many more misplaced and that schools and colleges have been closed etc(that doesn’t stop a few colleges and schools from working). Wrote a poem as well(in my poetry blog).

From newcamera2
From newcamera2

More about the second photo later.

I do wonder why rains in Chennai/TN don’t make it to the NEWS. Someone gets crushed by a bus in Delhi and the media is all over the place, someone sneezes in Mumbai and its hot NEWS. I am just curious that is all. After all people with better discretion run those things, the fourth estate etc etc.

We have had a couple of political fiascos going on as well. MNS, breaking microphones and well even trying to assault another leader in the Maharashtra assembly. Cool. We can forget about peace talks and Gandhigiri with such people around. No wonder others think they can lay claim to pieces of our land.

And of course one poor politician getting caught at it. I am a CA student and well the IT act(well a part of it, for my level) is there in the syllabus and  trust me, it is the most complicated thing I have never read/tried to read. As I commented – why don’t we let the IT department go after terrorists? (as per the act, illegal income is also taxable(correct me wise ones). But we all do know, the reality, if not the truth. Come on , where is 1.5 crores and over 2000 crores?

Farmville- well am jobless enough to afford getting caught up in something for a while. So yes, apart from the NEWS channels, this has kept me going(and tweeting and blogging as well). I get detoxed pretty fast, so am not worried about getting addicted etc(though it did feature in my dream yesterday night, does that count?) .

Anyway its been 20 years since the Berlin wall fell. It showed that people can rise together and get what they want. We can learn a lot from history, but ironically the only people who learn it(you and me) don’t care about it(the least popular subject in schools I think).

Once upon a time, I used to dream of making a world a better place etc, but when everyone hung up on making things bad, you can’t really stop anyone. So anyway, the present gen. will long be gone, it won’t be gen. X or Y it will be another one, but surely a human one(hopefully nature doesn’t watch movies/listen to humans-2012?).

What most of don’t realize is that, it is not the planet which needs saving, it is our race. This rock has been here for aeons, what makes you think, a bunch of petty creatures can destroy it? Human vanity, nothing else. And remember we are part of nature as well. Intelligence does weird things to you,  like making you think you have too heavy head. Just use it, stop trying to praise it too much. *and my comp is usually on for about 12 hours a day 😛 *

Lots more to say, but this post is just a random one, so let me end by remind you of the Great Super Heroes Challenge, just scroll down, you will find it.

Sambar magic(the tale of thondiraja)-part 3!(spoof)

January 9, 2009 § 9 Comments

And the voice on the other end, chirped,”yeeeeyaaa!Thondi raja! You have been selceted to perform in the Thondi Idol!”.The king, went ablaze,he jumped and he danced and started to sing,” Oh,want to have a thondi just  like this? Just eat all you have…oh! want to have a thondi just like this…”,The old man with the beard, gave a “I told you so” smile, whitened,by a secret formula, approved by the shamen and the head priest of thondi.

Ops,if you haven’t read part 2 yet then read it here.

The king replied to the voice,”Sure,I am honoured and since I sent away our star singer,Himesh, there is no competition for me,though there is this blogger called Vimal,ha did he qualify?”.

“Yes he did and we would be honoured,if you as the king do the thondi dance,to the song,”thondis don’t lie” “.

Even more delighted,”wow, now I need a partner..,when is it? “.And replied the voice ,all earnest and young ” You have plenty of time,oh!the world record holder for eating the most number of bhadushas(bhadushas are Indian donout, though it should be the other way about.),to put on some weight and get ready for the dance. All the best your highness,TC.”

As the call ended, the king turned around and thanked the smiling man with the beard. The man with the beard responded,” This is the secret of  Bush to get elected for the second term, the secret of Paris Hilton,to be so slim and Tony Blair,to lie so much and oh! your highness, this will always keep you fat! You are indeed the pride of thondi! Now I think you should go back, take a pack of Sambar with you.

“I will  also teach you the code to return here, but remember this is not web 2.0,no twitter,no stumble,no orkut,no facebook, just keep it to yourself, keep saying it until, you know it like the moves of your favorite heroine or like a kid who watched DD in the 90s,knows the dialogues of Mahabaratha and Ramayana”.

“OH! my fine old man,I understand.I will not give it to anyway, least of all NTTV and I will keep the travelling charges out of my books ,my accountant doesn’t know accounts anyway,he learned the trade at PWC and gets a hefty salary, anyway he is busy, he is appearing as a market analyst in one of those channels called NTTV Loss. And some how,the KTIAA(Kingdom of Thondi Accountants Association) don’t know what to do with him.I could have him thrown to the lions, but unfortunately, the lions, seem to be influenced by our Health minister, maybe,I should make the Rambodoc, from the wonderful blogging world,as the health minsiter.”

“Oh!king whatever. It is time to go.” The man with the beard, then again placed a stone, measured his steps, compained and hit the Ronaldo style free kick. The stone feel into the Magical Sambar river and they were back.

And as they came out of the forest,a guard came running,” Breaking news oh! king,Sathyam boss, just quit.It seems he had doctored the books.”

“Ha,you fine young man”,the king patted the man on his shoulder,”it is late news,if you want the full story, start blogging,as it is ,you don’t do any work, except, taking bribes from the beggars,to keep the big guards away.I tell you go,I will give you some money, eat ,get a thondi, don’t cheat and read blogs all day long.Otherwise,I will soon start being the “sources within” for the NEWS channels.”

“Oh!king,I am sorry,no,I do blog, but the feeds arrived a little late.Rather I was watching videos on youtube and forgot all about blogging.”

“Ha ,I am feeling hungry, run along”. The king turned to the minsiter who had arrived.”What happened to the Israel bombings?”

The minister hesitated and confessed,”My brain was struck!”.

The king laughed out loud and beamed,” LOL,now that is a good minister. What a country,no wonder,we have pertol workers going on a strike etc.If we have such wonderful ministers! Now,you are going to get stuck,I am going to send you to the rehab,no comupters for five months. And remember to shave your hair.Of course we will give you a chalk.”

And so the king walked along, majestic as always. He took out his PDA(again gifted). And grunted,”Ha,this Microsoft,it is always getting hung.I thought they didn’t have capital punishments.”And at that moment,an apple, feel from the sky..

Bribery-you need to even if you don’t have a blackberry

January 5, 2009 § 14 Comments

A sudden humourous has struck me.I suddenly seem to have got the bubble blowing bubby tumor. It can’t get any worse than telling a science group student,a few minutes before their physics exam,”stop studying about current, you may get a shock.” Well why not make most of what you have?Complaining is not going to get me the publicity-no interviews on headlines today or for that matter even on IBN-LIVE.

As I inch towards my 650 posts mark, one of the topics which my cartoons haven’t embraced yet,has struck me.Of course, being a extermly “good” person and since I welcome a lot of bad humour from people around me during exams,as I act like an pucca shaib from the times when a peon managed to have fun in our country( Ya I mean Clive,Robert Clive) and not allow them to copy from me,corruption is bad water, more worse than water from any of the colourful rivers in our country.Whether everyone in the country can afford a Blackberry or not,it is essential to be able to afford bribery.

Wonderful,no one can ever destory corruption or bribery,as long as people want to fulfill their wants without doing any work. From the watchmen in hotels to the top people in government offices, everyone wants onething-more money. And all the while,we all claim to be a very religiously sensitive country.I do wonder when a godman named Corruption Baba is going to appear. Why do it under the table,as they call it?No justification,as we say in Tamil, anyway “Namamthan podapuran”(anyway they are going to cheat us,er..namam is the U shaped thing which we brahmins wear on our forehead, don’t know whats it called in English).

So before this post becomes longer than a Saree from one of the silk centers in our country(lest,I inspire them to kill more worms),let us get to the cartoons..

Are Israel’s air stikes right?

December 29, 2008 § 15 Comments

We all condemned the Mumbai terror attacks, but funnily enough,no one in the known blogosphere, has had anything to say about Israel’s air strikes on the Gaza strip.

Just because a few militants launch bombs,is it right to bomb a whole city? Here is some info on the whole issue(it does not include the recent air strikes).

The conditions of people living there,is bad and the people responsible for the attacks are those who do not have the support of the people. And the best part is,none   only few, very few of the people responsible for the rockets were killed.Till now about 307 people have been killed, including children.

As the world celebrated Christmas, those living in Gaza received a terrible gift.

Of course,it was wrong to launch rockets by the militants, but why hurt children and civilians ?Who is the bigger terrorist here? And what does the world do except condemn the attacks? Already the place has no food or proper medical facilities and how are they to handle so many injured and dead?

This isn’t a war, this is just a brutish crime. This is legal terrorism. But what can we do about it? A few unscrupulous minds act to some baseless virtue and their decisions endanger the people. The UN again seems to be no where.

I do wonder what a child who lost his/her parents in this bombing will do,when he/she grows up? Who can stop the tyrants of war? Is there any democracy in the global village? Does it matter which street you live on?

This article, sums up what is really happening.

Shut up,please!

December 2, 2008 § 21 Comments

first let me start with a big thanks to all the news channels for covering the Mumbai Terror attacks, without you people,we all would be ignorant of the lapse in our security, what really happened(even though a few speculations few around, but I forgive you for that and also for not reporting all those people who died  and lost their homes thanks to the cyclone) and the true heros and the zeros. Now ,please shut up!

Yes we are angry. But what is the use of getting more and more people to talk, talk and talk more? This is getting blase. Are they trying to gain more TRPs? The best part is no speaker gets to make his/her point clearly.I think we all need to give the government time .What action do we expect the government to take? Bomb the country the terrorists came from? So for a while let us watch and listen, enough of  all this hullabaloo.I too am pissed off by such an action, but “let us act like civilised people” (yes act,are we all civilized?) and watch for a while.

And I had this interesting question,

Hanuman set fire to Lanka, why isn’t that terrorism?

And no i am not promoting terrorism(if you think I am,then read my poems, and FYI,i don’t even crush the mosquitoes,so)It is just a question which poped up.If you don’t want to use your name, you can always use Anon, but yes I am looking forward to answers on this one.

Chennai and Mumbai-rains and terror

November 27, 2008 § 17 Comments

As Mumbai faces its first terror attack,Chennai is washed out thanks to torrential rainfall.

Coast to coast the country faces problems,as stock markets and schools are closed.

Chennai:-The state capital and the rest of the state face cyclone “NISHA”.You can see the Satellite picture here.

Image from here.

The city faces such rain after many many years. And my exams are postponed. While I can happy about not having any exams more than 50 have died and many lives have been affected.Food packets have been dropped from helicopters in Cuddalore. Most of the major roads in the city are flooded.

Picture from here.

Terror in Mumbai:-

The whole world watches as two of Mumbai’s most famous hotels have been taken over by terrorists and many people inculding forigners have been held as hostage. You can read more about it, here.

Blogosphere too has had many posts here are a few :-

Politicking more important rather than stopping terror by Nita

Mumbai Terror Attacks:Lessons for us to learn by compulsive writer.

My view:-
So as in front of comp, more and more people are suffering thanks to cyclonic fury and terrorists bullets. Now in what why does this affect me? As a human being,I wonder how people can so kill others so frivolously.Who are these people and what do they want, are the questions which everyone is asking. The premeditated, planned and till now executed properly executed attacks has shocked the whole world.Symbolically terror has now entered India, through the Gateway that the British exited. While we cannot do anything about storms and rainfall,we can do a lot about terrorism.

While a lot of people can be held responsible for not spotting the threat and our “intelligence” not being clever enough can be zeroed on,it is time to question who is at the base of all this.Is it because something went wrong with their lives that these people allowed themselves to be brain washed?
Or is their condition so desperate that they need to blow up and destroy to save themselves?

Whatever are the reasons ,we will soon know, but one thing we do need to do is make sure that as a society we stick together and make sure we are heard. This is a complete mockery of whatever little is left of democracy. It is very easy to just write and talk, but we do need to do something about this.Maybe we can snap these terrorists at their roots,if we make sure there is no need for them to take to such activities.

That of course is possible if and only if,there are no religious motives. For if religion is involved, there can be no concrete solution-who can stop the waring Gods? As it is obvious that religion has a hand in all this,we need to reduce this to a level where religion is excused and for once, these people are made responsible for what they did ,where their affiliation to a religion is not a mask for them to hide behind.

Enough is Enough,so let us make it clear. If you do not believe in violence,be ready to say so and if it takes us to do something about all this, let us do-it takes more to be calm than violent.Let us not play their game their way and panic and hurt and destory.Nor at the same time we should cuddle up in fear. And if any terrorist is reading this- Why do you do that?

P.S: you can display the above picture in  your blog if you want.

humanity at stake

May 21, 2008 § 1 Comment

where is word ‘human’?
is it lost among the dread
and the xenophobic hate?
my eyes couldn’t stand
the mere visuals,
let alone if i were there,
being burnt to ashes,
like some cow dung fuel.
is the world a sane place?
is this the reality,
we all need face?
it is not about being
from a country,
we are in times of A village ,
and yet the hate for each other,
seems nothing but raw cruel.
in the world we all exist,
is it right to think of
a creature sitting up
and pulling the strings
of his mortal sketches?
i cannot but be shattered,
at what i saw,even
though i sat in front
of a screen,safely tucked
a thousand miles away.
if i were to think
of the land,where now
people are being burnt,
what comes to me
is just too gruesome.
while this might be
another drop in suffering,
unlike in other places
where it isn’t about races,
here it is about pure hate,
is this what we can all fate?
what can i do?
a thousand miles away?
nothing.i feel ashamed
for this inhuman race.
why burn another one alive,
why is that what is life
is worth? what oh! are you humans,
are you all the people of earth?

this is my reaction to the slide show posted by Sanity found in her blog.I have not even edited it,nor re-read it.I am in utter disgust of being a human.

If you really what to see what it is all about here is the slide show.It shows the recent xenophobic attacks in South Africa.Humanity? i think I haven’t read enough about.i am just sick about this.

Where Am I?
