Hi. (a post after 20 days!)
April 16, 2010 § 9 Comments
Listen to this while you read 🙂
My last noteworthy post was 20 days ago. And I blame it on Twitter(not entirely). Not that tweets compensate for writing, but when you read a lot of interesting stuff, you end up thinking and end of the day, you don’t know what to write about.
Actually that is not true, it has got more to do with my exams. So another 20 days or so to go, before I write my CA-IPCC(inter) exam. And contrary to common perception, I am not all that tensed. I generally don’t get tensed over exams, because they are certain. You get tensed only when things are uncertain. Of course, you can’t be certain of the result, but well results come after a couple of months and if you have done horribly, you can be prepared for the worse 😛
It is not laziness either, just that whenever I decide to write, I wonder why I want to write about myself. Not that there isn’t enough happening out there, but to write about other things, you need put a lot of thought to the given topic and then type a concise(me, concise?) and engaging post.
I wanted to write about the Tharoor vs Modi case, but then I tweeted enough I guess and besides writing a brilliant piece saying whatever I want to say, isn’t going to change anything, no, it isn’t going to get me additional readers either(I hate it when I sound so pessimistic, actually, that I am not pessimistic, just that I don’t want to start blogging in full swing, again, till my exams are over).
Notice, how I have eaten over 250 words, without saying anything worthwhile? I can be witty, you know. But then again wit is a waste of time, when not many get what I say(lack of wave length I say!). Or maybe I am not witty, just vetti.
Anyway, I think it is time for the Great LOL challenge again(yes, a year has passed and your sense of humour has gotten better, I hope), any volunteers to help me?(includes chatting with me and exchanging mails, lot at that..I can be quite a nag, you are warned).
Since I want to see a lot of comments, on this post, I stop 😛 Leave you guys with a couple of pics,

Krishna nee begane – Colonial Cousins
April 30, 2009 § 10 Comments
The other day I went to a drama called chocolate Krishna by ‘Crazy’ Mohan ( his troupe is one of the most famous here) . And in the drama , a snippet of this song was played . And bingo like any good old 21st century city kid , came back and youtubed the song . I know we had this song cassette when I was about 6 or 7 as I remember losing it in the tourist taxi while returning from Thirupati after my upanayanam(the sacred thread ceremony , the name is right , right?) ..
So now that I am out of my lazy phase(ya too laxy to copy and paste a link) here is the song..
All I can say is that people realize that it is not worth fighting .
P.S:- check out this post on Paulo’s blog .
tagged!
February 16, 2009 § 18 Comments
Destionation Infinity has tagged me! The tag’s name is “Slow Melodious and Soulful Songs“.
Music is a form of expression. And to us the work of an artist is a way to relate to the ultimatum within us. Now the problem with this tag is,I do not know how I would be able to stop myself once I have began.
From M.S.Subhalakshmi to Pink Floyd and ARR to Metallica,I love so many songs. And add to that the classical wizards of symphonies and suits and an opus ordinates intself of an extremely high allegro!
But let me start with Tamil songs,as DI asked me to do 🙂 Though tamil is my mother tongue, one major problem is that now days the tamil me and my friends speak, has a lot of English,in fact I can talk tamil only with a few people,to others I switch back to english after a sentence.but luckily for me I can ask my grand parents and parents the meaning of words.
And then then there are the film songs, well I am not really a filmy person.Well let me list them, enough of red-hearing 😛
-Kurai Ondrum Illai
– Bhaja Govindam
– Bethoveen symphony 9
-four seasons by vivaldi
-Tchaikovsky, Piano Concerto No. 1
Now those are my top 5 🙂 Of course i would say entire collection of Tchaikovasky(should be able to spell him soon without a mistake 😛 ) and Bethoveen..I like the way the hit the right high notes. The first two songs have a lot of emotional value to me
Let me choose a few from movies 🙂
-Masakali( ya ya ya 😉 )
-Katrinilae mozhi
-Kalai matrum kandal from Dashavataram
-All the songs from Jodha Akbar
-Slum Dog millionaire songs(seriously people it is guuuud!)
-I admit most of ARR’s songs 🙂
Forgot a lot of songs 😛 But I usually like songs with good lyrics..
And I should say most of Floyds and Guilmore’s songs. I should also add flipsyde’s songs( a few spun, flipsyde, someday etc)..But they aren’t really slow but soulful when you need to cover your burns 😉
It also depends on my mood I guess,But I mostly listen to Tchiakovsky…I started this post with the aim of listing a lot of songs but as I linked the videos i got into the songs and have forgotten the list 😛
Anyway Now I tag:-
–rambodoc ( yes music for the body and soul doc, please! 😛 )
–Apar
–Meenu(first one i am passing on to you?)
–Jeevan(patu!)
–Paul(we never get to hear about music from you 🙂 )
–Vimal( Enjoy !)
P.S: Ya I am 17!! Not 70 😛
Slumdog Millionaire-movie review
January 15, 2009 § 18 Comments
Image from here.
Usually, when I write a movie review in my blog,I feel guilty, that I am writing something which is not really what I want to write, but i am doing it for the hits(albeit the fact, that I write reviews only for movies which make an impression). But this movie is different.
No doubt AR.Rahman, fully deserves the Golden Globe. In fact, this is a movie which deserves the Oscars. The directing, dialogues, acting, camera, this, that and everything was perfect.
The movie is about a boy(or man) ,18 years old, from the world famous slums of Mumbai. He goes on to will Rs.20,00,000/- in a reality show-Who wants to be a millionaire? The role of the protagonist is played by Ayush Mahesh Khedekar, Tanay Chheda and Dev Patel.
Jamal Malik,is being questioned in the police station-how on earth, did a slumdog, manage to get into a position ,where if he answers the next question,he would be a Millionaire twenty times over? The usual cinema style portrayal of the Indian police, kicks of the movie. But when he faints during the shock treatment. The police inspector(Irrfan Khan),decides to question in a more humane way.
As each question of the previous night,is roled out,Jamal narrates, how he knew the answer. He goes on to narrate the grim life of a “slumdog”.He knew an answer to a question, because his mom was killed in communal violence,he knew another, thanks to the people who make children beg and almost took his eyes away. The role of the show host is played by Anil Kapoor.
The “Three Muskeeters”(the book by Alexander Dumas,ha!another one to read),all are untied after the communal violence. In the end,it is all for the third Muskeeters ;”For you, a thousand times over….” from the book “The Kite Runner”,aptly describes the movie. The three Muskeeters are Jamal,Salim( Jamal’s elder brother, played by Azharuddin Mohammed Ismail,Ashutosh Lobo Gajiwala and Madhur Mittal) and Lathika(Freida Pinto,Tanvi Ganesh Lonkar,Rubiana Ali).
It is truly a candid movie. It decepits the dirty world of slum.It also shows us,how “dons” are born. This being a English movie, does provoke a feeling,”they always portray India like this” , but then how are we going to make them change it?
I don’t want to reveal anything about the movie.I would give it a 5/5.Only thing there a few scenes which might make a few people cry.Would say a above 15 film(I don’t kids will really appreciate,a kid being blinded,so as to beg, gruesome indeed).
Thanks to wiki for the names. If you want a detalied review, you can find it there.
