Nothing in particular.

April 29, 2010 § 13 Comments

So my exams are a few days away. Nice. Finally! After that, I do not intend to do anything(academic) for the next 6 months at least ,As my sis would put it “oh! the joy of it”. Me being me I would say, ” Finally! I am free…*laugh loudly* ” and then 5 mins later wonder what I should do, half an hour later get frustrated and 5 hrs later  start dreaming of things far beyond me. (Lame?)

I have a huge bucket list and of course inevitably a want list. For all my philosophical accents and poetic penchant, I love spending money and buying expensive stuff(though preferably not with my pocket-money). Well  I sound more and more like a cost center( be happy that I don’t like Tax and auditing much, or you might be yawning by now),but I also have a few ideas which I want to build upon, which may create more inflows than outflows. And hopefully my latent talents haven’t depreciated due to excessive taxing  and repeated auditing thanks to the various laws and standards 😛

Now, surely the last sentence shows that I am studying-like never before. Brain drain, I call it. All those free cells, which were waiting to be filled with wonderous stuff are now filled with desiccated provisions and stupendous standards. I am planning to take time out and forget all those stuff. It won’t make any difference anyway.

My phone bills have hit new highs. I talked for something around 1500 Rs on the mobile and 700 Rs on the landline 😛 (that’s what happens when you choose the wrong plans). I am obsessed with talking, clearly. But you can’t really blame me. All this studying gets on my nerves. But then when in Chennai do what the padips(nerds) do.

Twitter is addictive. This proves that I am in love with it! I am tempted to post a few tweets here, but I shall refrain, because inevitably most of you follow me there anyway 🙂 There are a couple of new blogging tools which I have added to my poetry blog, they deserve posts on their own and I shall try to do justice to them.

I wanted to write about the whole Tharoor-Modi thing, but then didn’t because I was studying. Actually studying is the perfect reason to give for anything and everything. And when I get bored, I tweet/read tweets and follow links to new places. I should to take the effort to compile all that I read and post it here. maybe I should join Stumbleupon or something?

boooooorrrrrreeeeedddd!! on Twitpic

When I get bored, I draw in my mobile. Advantage of having a touch 😛 Height of joblessness? Maybe.

Guess, I should get back to studying now. I told my sister to write a couple of reviews, but she is busy being lazy. This blog needs a few reviews to get the daily hits back on the right side of 100. But then, it has gone through this before and been in worse situations, so it doesn’t mind it.

Oh! and I need 3 more for 250 followers on twitter, so 😉

P.S:- No P.S this time 😛

Hi. (a post after 20 days!)

April 16, 2010 § 9 Comments

Listen to this while you read 🙂

My last noteworthy post was 20 days ago. And I blame it on Twitter(not entirely). Not that tweets compensate for writing, but when you read a lot of interesting stuff, you end up thinking and end of the day, you don’t know what to write about.

Actually that is not true, it has got more to do with my exams. So another 20 days or so to go, before I write my CA-IPCC(inter) exam. And contrary to common perception, I am not all that tensed. I generally don’t get tensed over exams, because they are certain. You get tensed only when things are uncertain. Of course, you can’t be certain of the result, but well results come after a couple of months and if you have done horribly, you can be prepared for the worse 😛

It is not laziness either, just that whenever I decide to write, I wonder why I want to write about myself. Not that there isn’t enough happening out there, but to write about other things, you need put a lot of thought to the given topic and then type a concise(me, concise?) and engaging post.

I wanted to write about the Tharoor vs Modi case, but then I tweeted enough I guess and besides writing a brilliant piece saying whatever I want to say, isn’t going to change anything, no, it isn’t going to get me additional readers either(I hate it when I sound so pessimistic, actually, that I am not pessimistic, just that I don’t want to start blogging in full swing, again, till my exams are over).

Notice, how I have eaten over 250 words, without saying anything worthwhile? I can be witty, you know. But then again wit is a waste of time, when not many get what I say(lack of wave length I say!). Or maybe I am not witty, just vetti.

Anyway, I think it is time for the Great LOL challenge again(yes, a year has passed and your sense of humour has gotten better, I hope), any volunteers to help me?(includes chatting with me and exchanging mails, lot at that..I can be quite a nag, you are warned).

Since I want to see a lot of comments, on this post, I stop 😛 Leave you guys with a couple of pics,

A rare event..me taking a photo which seems decent :P on Twitpic

Oh! and if I feel confident that I am studying properly, watch this space for a couple of book and movie reviews(seen a few movies actually, just too lazy to review them 🙂 )

P.S:- Sorry, for not replying to comments, I know that is bad ethics..but.. 🙂

Krishna nee begane – Colonial Cousins

April 30, 2009 § 10 Comments

The other day I went to a drama called chocolate Krishna by ‘Crazy’ Mohan ( his troupe is one of the most famous here) . And in the drama , a snippet of this song was played . And bingo like any good old 21st century city kid , came back and youtubed the song . I know we had this song cassette when I was about 6 or 7 as I remember losing it in the tourist taxi while returning from Thirupati after my upanayanam(the sacred thread ceremony , the name is right , right?) ..

So now that I am out of my lazy phase(ya too laxy to copy and paste a link) here is the song..

All I can say is that people realize that it is not worth fighting .

P.S:- check out this post on Paulo’s blog .

tagged!

February 16, 2009 § 18 Comments

Destionation Infinity  has tagged me! The tag’s name is “Slow Melodious and Soulful Songs“.

Music is a form of expression. And to us the work of an artist is a way to relate to the ultimatum within us. Now the problem with this tag is,I do not know how I would be able to stop myself once I have began.

From M.S.Subhalakshmi to Pink Floyd and ARR to Metallica,I love so many songs. And add to that the classical wizards of symphonies and suits and an  opus ordinates intself of an extremely high allegro!

But let me start with Tamil songs,as DI asked me to do 🙂 Though tamil is my mother tongue, one major problem is that now days the tamil me and my friends speak, has a lot of English,in fact I can talk tamil only with a few people,to others I switch back to english after a sentence.but luckily for me I can ask my grand parents and parents the meaning of words.

And then then there are the film songs, well I am not really a filmy person.Well let me list them, enough of red-hearing 😛

-Kurai Ondrum Illai

– Bhaja Govindam

– Bethoveen symphony 9

-four seasons by vivaldi

-Tchaikovsky, Piano Concerto No. 1

Now those are my top 5 🙂 Of course i would say entire collection of Tchaikovasky(should be able to spell him soon without a mistake 😛 ) and Bethoveen..I like the way the hit the right high notes. The first two songs have a lot of emotional value to me

Let me choose a few from movies 🙂

-Masakali( ya ya ya 😉  )

-Katrinilae mozhi

-Kalai matrum kandal from Dashavataram

-All the songs from Jodha Akbar

-Slum Dog millionaire songs(seriously people it is guuuud!)

-I admit most of ARR’s songs 🙂

Forgot a lot of songs 😛 But I usually like songs with good lyrics..

And I should say most of Floyds and Guilmore’s songs. I should also add flipsyde’s songs( a few spun, flipsyde, someday etc)..But they aren’t really slow but soulful when you need to cover your burns 😉

It also depends on my mood I guess,But I mostly listen to Tchiakovsky…I started this post with the aim of listing a lot of songs but as I linked the videos i got into the songs and have forgotten the list 😛

Anyway Now I tag:-

rambodoc ( yes music for the body and soul doc, please! 😛 )

Apar

Meenu(first one i am passing on to you?)

Jeevan(patu!)

Paul(we never get to hear about music from you 🙂 )

Vimal( Enjoy !)

Quirky Indian

P.S: Ya I am 17!! Not 70 😛

Slumdog Millionaire-movie review

January 15, 2009 § 18 Comments

Image from here.

Usually, when I write a movie review in my blog,I feel guilty, that I am writing something which is not really what I want to write, but i am doing it for the hits(albeit the fact, that I write reviews only for movies which make an impression). But this movie is different.

No doubt AR.Rahman, fully deserves the Golden Globe. In fact, this is a movie which deserves the Oscars. The directing, dialogues, acting, camera, this, that and everything was perfect.

The movie is about a boy(or man) ,18 years old, from the world famous slums of Mumbai. He goes on to will Rs.20,00,000/- in a reality show-Who wants to be a millionaire? The role of the protagonist is played by Ayush Mahesh Khedekar, Tanay Chheda and  Dev Patel.

Jamal Malik,is being questioned in the police station-how on earth, did a slumdog, manage to get into a position ,where if he answers the next question,he would be a Millionaire twenty times over? The usual cinema style portrayal of the Indian police, kicks of the movie. But when he faints during the shock treatment. The police inspector(Irrfan Khan),decides to question in a more humane way.

As each question of the previous night,is roled out,Jamal narrates, how he knew the answer. He goes on to narrate the grim life of a “slumdog”.He knew an answer to a question, because his mom was killed in communal violence,he knew another, thanks to the people who make children beg and almost took his eyes away. The role of the show host is played by Anil Kapoor.

The “Three Muskeeters”(the book by Alexander Dumas,ha!another one to read),all are untied  after the communal violence. In the end,it is all for the third Muskeeters ;”For you, a thousand times over….” from the book “The Kite Runner”,aptly describes the movie. The three Muskeeters are Jamal,Salim( Jamal’s elder brother, played by Azharuddin Mohammed Ismail,Ashutosh Lobo Gajiwala and Madhur Mittal)  and Lathika(Freida Pinto,Tanvi Ganesh Lonkar,Rubiana Ali).

It is truly a candid movie. It decepits the dirty world of slum.It also shows us,how “dons” are born. This being a English movie, does provoke a feeling,”they always portray India like this” , but then how are we going to make them change it?

I don’t want to reveal anything about the movie.I would give it a 5/5.Only thing there a few scenes which might make a few people cry.Would say a above 15 film(I don’t kids will really appreciate,a kid being blinded,so as to beg, gruesome indeed).

Thanks to wiki for the names. If you want a detalied review, you can find it there.

Sambar magic(the tale of thondiraja)-part 3!(spoof)

January 9, 2009 § 9 Comments

And the voice on the other end, chirped,”yeeeeyaaa!Thondi raja! You have been selceted to perform in the Thondi Idol!”.The king, went ablaze,he jumped and he danced and started to sing,” Oh,want to have a thondi just  like this? Just eat all you have…oh! want to have a thondi just like this…”,The old man with the beard, gave a “I told you so” smile, whitened,by a secret formula, approved by the shamen and the head priest of thondi.

Ops,if you haven’t read part 2 yet then read it here.

The king replied to the voice,”Sure,I am honoured and since I sent away our star singer,Himesh, there is no competition for me,though there is this blogger called Vimal,ha did he qualify?”.

“Yes he did and we would be honoured,if you as the king do the thondi dance,to the song,”thondis don’t lie” “.

Even more delighted,”wow, now I need a partner..,when is it? “.And replied the voice ,all earnest and young ” You have plenty of time,oh!the world record holder for eating the most number of bhadushas(bhadushas are Indian donout, though it should be the other way about.),to put on some weight and get ready for the dance. All the best your highness,TC.”

As the call ended, the king turned around and thanked the smiling man with the beard. The man with the beard responded,” This is the secret of  Bush to get elected for the second term, the secret of Paris Hilton,to be so slim and Tony Blair,to lie so much and oh! your highness, this will always keep you fat! You are indeed the pride of thondi! Now I think you should go back, take a pack of Sambar with you.

“I will  also teach you the code to return here, but remember this is not web 2.0,no twitter,no stumble,no orkut,no facebook, just keep it to yourself, keep saying it until, you know it like the moves of your favorite heroine or like a kid who watched DD in the 90s,knows the dialogues of Mahabaratha and Ramayana”.

“OH! my fine old man,I understand.I will not give it to anyway, least of all NTTV and I will keep the travelling charges out of my books ,my accountant doesn’t know accounts anyway,he learned the trade at PWC and gets a hefty salary, anyway he is busy, he is appearing as a market analyst in one of those channels called NTTV Loss. And some how,the KTIAA(Kingdom of Thondi Accountants Association) don’t know what to do with him.I could have him thrown to the lions, but unfortunately, the lions, seem to be influenced by our Health minister, maybe,I should make the Rambodoc, from the wonderful blogging world,as the health minsiter.”

“Oh!king whatever. It is time to go.” The man with the beard, then again placed a stone, measured his steps, compained and hit the Ronaldo style free kick. The stone feel into the Magical Sambar river and they were back.

And as they came out of the forest,a guard came running,” Breaking news oh! king,Sathyam boss, just quit.It seems he had doctored the books.”

“Ha,you fine young man”,the king patted the man on his shoulder,”it is late news,if you want the full story, start blogging,as it is ,you don’t do any work, except, taking bribes from the beggars,to keep the big guards away.I tell you go,I will give you some money, eat ,get a thondi, don’t cheat and read blogs all day long.Otherwise,I will soon start being the “sources within” for the NEWS channels.”

“Oh!king,I am sorry,no,I do blog, but the feeds arrived a little late.Rather I was watching videos on youtube and forgot all about blogging.”

“Ha ,I am feeling hungry, run along”. The king turned to the minsiter who had arrived.”What happened to the Israel bombings?”

The minister hesitated and confessed,”My brain was struck!”.

The king laughed out loud and beamed,” LOL,now that is a good minister. What a country,no wonder,we have pertol workers going on a strike etc.If we have such wonderful ministers! Now,you are going to get stuck,I am going to send you to the rehab,no comupters for five months. And remember to shave your hair.Of course we will give you a chalk.”

And so the king walked along, majestic as always. He took out his PDA(again gifted). And grunted,”Ha,this Microsoft,it is always getting hung.I thought they didn’t have capital punishments.”And at that moment,an apple, feel from the sky..

Nothing else matters!-metallica!!

August 26, 2008 § 11 Comments

this is one of all time favs! Nothing else matters!!

And the lyrics:

So close no matter how far
Couldnt be much more from the heart
Forever trusting who we are
And nothing else matters

Never opened myself this way
Life is ours, we live it our way
All these words I dont just say
And nothing else matters

Trust I seek and I find in you
Every day for us something new
Open mind for a different view
And nothing else matters

Never cared for what they do
Never cared for what they know
But I know

So close no matter how far
Couldnt be much more from the heart
Forever trusting who we are
And nothing else matters

Never cared for what they do
Never cared for what they know
But I know

Never opened myself this way
Life is ours, we live it our way
All these words I dont just say
And nothing else matters

Trust I seek and I find in you
Every day for us something new
Open mind for a different view
And nothing else matters

Never cared for what they say
Never cared for games they play
Never cared for what they do
Never cared for what they know
And I know

So close no matter how far
Couldnt be much more from the heart
Forever trusting who we are
No nothing else matters
