Hopeless-hagen

December 21, 2009 § 5 Comments

Googling- hagen means noble boy. Well the nobel boys(and girls) of the world, sat down to discuss and (try)  agree upon some common measures. Well it didn’t take a genius to predict the inevitable-nothing positive has come out of it.

Sure, globalization means that we the people of the world, with our wonderful rights to speech, voiced our despair; But no one heard us. Maybe, as the Delhi CM said, when asked about the Commonwealth games, let us pray.

The Accord by the way is this(click on the link to read it). And the flaws just present themselves to you, unless of course,  you don’t happen to understand English. This clearly shows that no one gives a damn. I had mentioned in the podcast, that a solution is going to be tough to arrive at and also discussed some of the problems- well pity our leaders, seem to crying over spilt milk and more bothered about other things- this shows we still cannot see ourselves as humans first.

I am not going to write a huge post, about this, mainly because those who read my blog are clever enough to understand things anyway, but I agree to most of what he has to say.

Recently, I went for a debate, where the topic was ” Climate change a conspiracy against the developing world” and well it seems true now. I had talked about in my podcast- pledging money etc, shows us that the “West” is still after control over the others.

The US portrays itself as a champion of modern “free” values, but it is the main culprit(or so it seems). If you are so wise, why don’t you just set some examples? We have enough hypocrites here and we know how you people work, so if you give a damn about “global warming”(  when your cities are covered in two feet of ice), then you better start doing some work.

Transfer of technology and establishing a fund sounds great, but where is the technology? And USD 100 billion? You mean, that the developing world needs only that much to change, when your companies need more to bail themselves out?

Shifting the burden on the developing world is fine, but the main aim here is to try to provide a square meal a day to our entire population, providing gainful employment(how about cleaning the environment?) etc. If you indeed have the technology, why aren’t you already using it?

I have already mentioned(in my podcast) that this is not about saving Earth, but this is about saving humanity. But the treats are apparently not visible to many. Whether the scientific results are true or not is a question, this is a critical issue. Yesterday we fought over our resources, today we fight over who religion and sects , tomorrow we will be fighting over our waste.

And rationing the amount of energy a person can use is absurdity. Unfortunately we(who have the technology and the rest) use (and emit) more than those who are living in refugee camps and fighting for survival. Maybe as a specie, we will survive through this. But it is not about that, we are talking about living-as “the most intelligent race”, we deserve better(?). Unfortunately, there seems to be a lack of humanism among our leaders.

The way forward- come up with “green technology” for the primary industries first- no drying(and polluted) rivers is not going to help reduce the amount of water in the ocean. If nuclear is the way forward, then well better start using to produce energy, before Uncle Sam decides he can’t answer questions and throws one at us, to shut us up and as for the nuclear waste, well I am sure the deserts make a very good dumping yard(hope you get the sarcasm).

Maybe manufacturing goods which last long( just try your international brands here, to make a washing machine work for more than a year, you need waste about  Rs.5000, make calls, threaten to sue etc) and follow some basic norms. Improving public  transportation facilities will help( seeing people hanging from foot boards isn’t let’s say isn’t going to make me take a bus!) and also reducing traffic jams will help. Planting more trees in urban areas, will help lower the temperature(caused due to concrete and metal) and reduce the need for ACs.

I did feel that dividing industries among countries(to avoid duplication of resources), might be a solution, but then it has many flaws. One thing is for sure- time to see ourselves as humans first and the rest.

Well to end this post ,let me quote  Shelley

Look on my works, ye mighty, and despair!

Tagged!!!!

November 23, 2009 § 16 Comments

After what seems like an eternity, a tag has come my way at last! 😀 This one is from Nita 🙂 It is the wish list tag 🙂

I am debating whether I should do this one seriously or to do a fun one, but an amalgam should be better? 😛

1) Write, write and keep writing. And not just poetry, I want to try some fiction/ prose too. I have been planning to start writing books for long, have the stories in mind, but well, prose demands things which poetry doesn’t. And yes I have an idea for a drama script too. The idea, the substance everything clear, but then, exams in 5 months- ugh!

It is not just about getting published or something. For a while, I did think that trying to get published was a good goal, but then realized that it was quite futile. Every time I pick up the pen/sit in front of the screen to write, it is about me. It is a journey, into myself and that is what is important.

2) Act. I love acting. And I don’t mind playing parts which others might not be willing to do. I think this is something that every writer will like to do. When you can construct characters, you can play them as well. As I said, I want to write that script and hopefully I am able to do it 🙂

3)Studies:-

i)CA:-  That’s what I am doing right now. The course demands the use of your head, so it is not at all bad. Only thing though, I need to start studying more 😛

ii) Economics:- This is a subject which has always intrigued me. One reason might be that, the subject doesn’t demand much “studying” as such, it is based on understanding. After I finish CA I might be doing something related to economics(hopefully).

4) Societal goals:- I believe education is the key. Education as in everything and anything that helps nurture a person(In this respect, blogging I will say has played a part in my education). So I intend to do something in those lines, maybe start an education institution.

5) Travelling and photography:- This is something which I want to do, explore the world. Of course it will help if I can someone who is willing to travel along with me 😉 I love taking photos( does it really matter how good or bad I really am 😛 ) ,so yes hopefully I can shoot something worth while.

6) Designing:- Maybe not my natural forte, but then again, I like trying to do creative things 🙂 SO hopefully I can get to do some serious designing.

7) Music:- Well want to concentrate more on violin and tabla 😛 Music is magic. Whether you listen or play, it does take you on a wonderful ride 🙂

8) Nothing:- Discover how people can do “nothing” and from there learn more about the human mind 😛

9) Languages:- I want to learn Sanskrit and Latin 🙂 These two because, I want to read for myself, how our ancestors thought.  Much has been derived from what’s written in these two languages and I would like to read and find out for myself 🙂

10) Football:- This is something which very dear to me, Second only to writing. The game’s got something about it. Who knows maybe I can own a team in the future? 😛

11) Carpe Diem:- Of all the above thing, this is the one. 😀 😉

Anyway hopefully the future holds something good 🙂 I never write down my ambitions, goals etc, some how hate seeing them on paper. These things form a very small fraction of what I want to do. But then achieving  is not merely having the desire, but then having the ability to fulfil your desires.

I like to think that the future is going to hold what I want it to hold. And yes, I avoided, talking about love, rather deliberately 😉  We will see 🙂 And now I pass on this tag to:-

1) Swathi

2) Fruity

3)Aarti

4)Arch

5)Alps

Bribery-you need to even if you don’t have a blackberry

January 5, 2009 § 14 Comments

A sudden humourous has struck me.I suddenly seem to have got the bubble blowing bubby tumor. It can’t get any worse than telling a science group student,a few minutes before their physics exam,”stop studying about current, you may get a shock.” Well why not make most of what you have?Complaining is not going to get me the publicity-no interviews on headlines today or for that matter even on IBN-LIVE.

As I inch towards my 650 posts mark, one of the topics which my cartoons haven’t embraced yet,has struck me.Of course, being a extermly “good” person and since I welcome a lot of bad humour from people around me during exams,as I act like an pucca shaib from the times when a peon managed to have fun in our country( Ya I mean Clive,Robert Clive) and not allow them to copy from me,corruption is bad water, more worse than water from any of the colourful rivers in our country.Whether everyone in the country can afford a Blackberry or not,it is essential to be able to afford bribery.

Wonderful,no one can ever destory corruption or bribery,as long as people want to fulfill their wants without doing any work. From the watchmen in hotels to the top people in government offices, everyone wants onething-more money. And all the while,we all claim to be a very religiously sensitive country.I do wonder when a godman named Corruption Baba is going to appear. Why do it under the table,as they call it?No justification,as we say in Tamil, anyway “Namamthan podapuran”(anyway they are going to cheat us,er..namam is the U shaped thing which we brahmins wear on our forehead, don’t know whats it called in English).

So before this post becomes longer than a Saree from one of the silk centers in our country(lest,I inspire them to kill more worms),let us get to the cartoons..

Inspiration from this post at Nita’s blog.

Modernization

July 5, 2008 § 5 Comments

Cars,buses,factories,sundry-pollution.
Gone are the days of contemplation
and thinking out the right equation.
Rushing,reckless and rusting; no retrospection
to think out what caused self-annihilation.
Modernization, the right of every modern nation,
also the lock of self suppression.

Is it our fault, that we hate ourselves?
Is it our fault that we no longer feel that brethren
is the best way for a civilization to show togetherness?
Why is it our (the so called modern children) fault,
that a lot of us end in depression?
Why as a race we have progressed,
but when we see the world,we get depressed.

depressed at the sight of life’s
value being quantified.
Depressed because we have no time
to sit and think, for as quick as wink,
the world wants us to swim or sink.
Why what do we have for ‘I’?
and do i have for ‘we’?

Fights,quarrels,aggression and humiliation.
Why on one side we are preached,
and the other side we are ordered,
now neither path seems greener,
for the truly green path is the
less beaten one.Why time has been
made faster and we all last longer.

No time to love and give respect.
No time to take love and respect.
No time to understand.
No time to explain, just don’t be a pain,
get things done-haste is not vain.
Try anything else,
you are branded from hell-insane.

Why modern religion all preach war,
all of them put love and humans far
apart. Why a few sing in praise
of a good God,but a few more,
sing praise of self-proclaimed
creatures-exploitation,the essence
of modernization.

Why being modern means so much more,
have your fire and cook,
have your oven and bake,
why get out and have more sake,
but cut out the fake,
unneeded airy waves,
too much of it will kill the race.

change your clothes.
It doesn’t mean cover up more.
All i ask is do as you really wish.
be yourself and understand the
pasts wish and the futures
desire to be rich-not in terms of money,
but in happiness and unity.

Sing your song-
not someone else’s lament.
Why you too are a human.
It is your tale which is important
and it is for your betterment.
Unless you are right,
the world will never be.

Build a factory,
let it not destroy one for another.
Build it with stones which suit you
and remember that you can
have only what is yours.
Your factor
should rewrite history.

Make your own way.
Dare,dare and dare,
cleave your path
and fill your wants,
but remember to remember
those who were and those
who are.For to dare is to see.

Let modernization be,
a new rebirth,
a renaissance,
one which will have the best-
of the past, present and the future.
Dynamic is our need,
and the food needs to be made ready.

A bacteria’s view of population explosion

June 24, 2008 § 16 Comments

So i am sitting here to write something. And as i write this so much is happening out there:-

1)the human race is expanding.

2) more people are dieing.

3) The level of pollution is increasing.

4) the food prices are rising.

5) More hate is being created through war.

6)More and more kids are being nurtured to hate each other.

7) there are the natural disasters.

8)there are the man made disasters.

9) And a lot more too.

Yet in what way can i influence them? I have a English teacher(who also happens to be my vice-principal) who keeps on going about the fact that the human population in the world is becoming larger and larger. Now i seriously wonder what can we do about?
When we talk about population explosion, illiteracy, poverty all tag along. So we are all aware it is a cyclic process, right. So what can we do? NO this is not right,i am asking the same question again and again?

So i am going to try and answer it.First of all,i think we are all, including me,too scared of ourselves.

We cannot face what we are all.so to help myself over come that,i am

going to become something else.
I choose to be a bacteria.

Now being a bacteria,my main aim in life,is to help my species become larger in number.By creating a humongous population,we can rule earth. All other creatures how ever big they are, will be controlled, because we will out number and over power them.Yet since i am a bacteria and i haven’t changed much since the beginning, what i thought was a brilliant plan has failed.I find my own brother trying to kill me.We have become so large, that we don’t have enough space and all of us who are equal fight for supremacy.A few of my brethren are weak.

So together, unconsciously or consciously we the bacteria with the power have enslaved them.So to protect themselves, they all live together.Yet they are all still weak,so to increase their security, they try to grow more hands, legs and with that more moths and with that all the problems. And unfortunately they all don’t have the sense ,that they cannot find enough food for all the mouths and a lot of them die-a few once a lot many times over. But,Within them they all have a hope ,that someone created by them, will have the power to over throw all of us.

The problem with them is that, they don’t have the capacity to do anything we require,as they don’t have the brain power.A few of them try to become physically strong ,but then the long years of suppression helps us and we employee them for our own use. They become tools. So well i should talk about bacteria like myself. What did our fore fathers do? They too added more drops to the ocean, only the reason being different.they wanted their legacy to be carried on,and now too many of us exist and our family legacy is split into so many that we have no clue about a few lost brothers.

So now there are a lot of us in the world. And we all fight among ourselves.A few of us are the polished good waters, who try to act as if everything is fine. While a few others are the bad waters, for whom nothing is fine and yet they act as if it is.And then we have the few who know both waters. They try to think of solving everything.Yet the only solution till now, which would be the easiest and fastest is to drop a little bit of some chemical in a few places. Or simple start wars.yet that would be cruel, wouldn’t it? The small fish, needs to become more daring.

And the small fish among us are trying to.They all aspire to become like us “posh”.And

we are trying to set higher and higher standards.Yet one problem remains, the more the bacteria who come out, more are sent down.so how can we solve it? So as a bacteria who is thinking,i come to the conclusion. We need to stop fighting. We all need to appreciate each other and try and help each other. We all shouldn’t feel insecure. We all should love each other.Easier said then done.

You cannot teach everyone.Other bacteria need to understand the need. They all should know that stealing and cheating aren’t the way.If they are truly powerful, then they should be able to challenge what the past has done to our wonderful species.Someone should teach them and that can be done only by people who understand.

When someone hurts you.You don’t hurt them back. For you never know why they did it.All of us are equally guilty for everything. So we should try and understand what happened. If we cannot join together and mitigate our race now and emancipate those who need to be,it might be too late.Who knows there might be no bacteria at all on earth. Then again, the humans might soon die before us,they have nuclear power.Well if that happens,it would be a good example to bacteria. Then we will know what will happen,if we try to rule the world.we should all remember, that what we create will dig our grave.Whether we are going to witter with hate or die with a smile with love,is left to us.

Just giving privileges will not help, everyone should be prepared for shouldering the responsibility of saving our race.
