An awesome few days!!

Victory can do funny things to you. Yes, it wasn’t the Olympics, but it still helped me a lot- much more than even I thought. For once lady luck seemed to have smiled on me. I thank her, thank you miss, where you are, what ever you are upto.

I have never felt this confident. I feel a new belief, I am more than optimistic, I believe in my own ability to believe and have belief in my ability. It doesn’t matter if it was an easy contest, or whatever, but at least I didn’t screw up this time. It feels great to have some luck and actually do something worthwhile.

I should thank my friends for believing in me. Maybe they brought in the luck part. A huge thanks to all- especially Dhruva and AKR. We(my department) won three “culturals” in three days( held by various departments of Loyola) and well one which we won on the final day was specially special- we participated in 4 events, came first 3 and second in 1 and won it. I should mention this fellow called TTV – the fellow won something like 6 or 7 events in two days- damn good. And yes I should thank my seniors as well, for trusting us.

And everything else also seems to be falling in place(except for studies? Ha, well have to start studying again 😛 ). It’s been awesome.  That’s what this poem is about(for those follow my poetry blog as well).

Well Lady(luck that’s you) do stick around for a while, can do with your help 😀

Why so serious? :P

Fruity has given me two badges which she feels describes me (or fl’air’ ) 🙂  And yup, I know most of you will agree with her (including me :P)

Apart from the fact that I want to act as the joker in the next batman movie, this statement will hold enough water to cause a storm in the Atacama. Truth be told, I get ‘serious’ only when I sense there is more to something than that meets the eye. I never feel “serious” though, I like it when my head races away, I am more like an observer, who watches it 😀 Its fun to watch it, when it is at work and of course it is mesmerizing too 🙂

 

Ha think my relatives and friends will more than agree. I took one of those personality tests a while back and believe it or not, my introvert to extrovert is almost 1:1. So I can either be in a shell or go berserker 🙂 And yes I am very rarely short of words 🙂 Guess the serious part has got a lot to do with this. Expressing myself is something which is really important to me. Blogging can take a lot of credit for helping me express myself.

So why  these? They are gifts for people who came for “Kollu”.

It is a practise here for girls/women to arrange dolls during the 9 nights(and it is the practise of boys/men to eat all the sundal/puttu/whatever given).

But yes, while it is supposed to be for girls alone, boys/men help as well(like getting the dolls down from the loft etc 😛 );

When I was younger, I used to make an elaborate display of all my hot wheels and other toys. Now of course I do not have the time or the patience to participate( in fact this time, I looked through the kollu only when I took the photos {advantages of blogging, note} ). Ha well , at least I ate sundal 😀

Anyway, I think I will stop with the photos about kollu , its origin and sundries, well if you are curious, search the blogs, you will be able to what you are looking for 🙂

Vijayadhasami is supposed to be a day, when it is good for new beginnings. Like how everyday is not a Sunday, everyday is not supposed to be good enough, fine enough I guess 😛 So let me pass on a few awards(which I received during my Sunday blogger days 😉 )

quarter dozen awards

Ya ya its raining awards! *hey anybody wants to erect a statue of me? *

This time its Kanagu , celebrating a year in blogosphere  *ha young man congrats *.

Anyway , he has given me the Wordsworth of blogsphere award *see someone reads my poems 😀 * . Anyway how do I feel about it? Damn good you bet , but decided to ask Wordsworth what he thinks about this…

Me:- whatever , someone think I am like you. Anyway you lived far too long and you didn’t shoot yourself or get drowned..not inspiring at all, they say we poets are crazy..

At this point , the poor fellow mutters to himself and sees a couple of Chennai kaka(crow/raven) and wanders away …

Anyway anyone who says my poems are long , please , save it , for all you know , you would have to teach it your children if it becomes as a part of their English text 😉 * ya I dream of such things , The swine I am! Stay away from me , I am genetically self modified flu proof pig , coming near me is bound to weaken your system through jealousy , vanity and of course you hog , you stink!*

There are few who behave like kids. They fight , they write weird comments in each others’ blog and they pull each others’ leg(virtual ones I guess 🙂 ).

And this is a new trend, in the olden days(of blogging!) , people used to behave themselves , we commented and talked as if we had a tie around our neck trying to choke us( Oh! I didn’t belong to this category I think, what with my famous smiley comments 😉 and before that of course I was the new kid in the block 😉 ) So this one goes to the kids(some old timers who have reinvented themselves as well) :-

My name is Unni,Vishesh Unni

Ya most of you know I am Vishesh Unni Raghunathan 🙂 But why this post all of a sudden?This post is been in the making since i started blogging some two and a half years ago.Anyway before we get to the post,I got another award,this time from Reema and Pria.

Its called the PROXIMIDADE.Since I do not happen to speak the language the award is,And also since I tried to translate this using google translator.This is the message it gave moi  :

And so I clicked on Spanish and the translator told me,it means proximity.So who I wonder should this proximity award or rather present go to?

Now that,that is done ,let us get back to my name.

Vishesh in hindi means special.

Unni in malayalam means small.

The best part is I am Tamil.And even better is the fact that I  know  neither malayalam nor hindi(Ok i can Understand them alright.Hindi slightly more,thanks to my class mates.Malayalam is more like Tamil spoken through the nose.)

So my name actually means Special Small.

When i was small i used hate the Unni(as its meaning in Tamil is different and also it rhymes with panni[pig]) in my name.But now i have gotten used to it.Actually i would have been named Vishesh Unni Krishnan,but then seeing that it would be too long,they decided to make it shorter to Vishesh Unni.

And since my name involves two languages,people assume me to be a Mallu or somewhere from the North .I actually don’t mind that,I feel weird only when people start talking to me in Malayalam or hindi.Well whatever,here I am Unni,Vishesh Unni.Though i prefered to be known as Vishesh.

Speical Small whatever…I am special that is all I care about 😛

Butterfly award and a cup

The combo reminds me of the prizes they give school,a certificate and a “cup”.well since school days are “nembered”(*ahem,my principal’s pronounciation),I think this will be the last time i get this combo(I am optimistic,I look forward to more costlier stuff,not just some “suspected to be from sarava stores cups”,though this seems pretty costly,is it Victorian,Tanjorian or  maybe Armani?).Now i pass this on to:-
