The world is a fascinating place and it is brought to life by our perception. This book deals with our various identities especially the religious one.
The book has opened my eyes to a new way of seeing things and has helped me understand the world better. The coherence and flow is beautiful. If ever there is an author who makes you think, Amartya Sen is it 🙂
trying to belong is redefined and in every page , you get a clearer sense of where we are now. The perception of the West of East and East of West , is highlighted and the what might happen if we continue to stick to our tainted glasses is also discussed.
In truth a small review is not enough, I thought of doing a chapter by chapter analysis(and that is why I wrote that post on Identity) but then decided against it. I have found more clarity thanks to the book and it has led me to search how we can have something called the ‘culture’ without the inertia of ignorance or guilt.
Its a pretty small book and I would say it is a must read.
